When pizza night comes around, most people want to call Dominos or head down to the local pizzaria. However, some gas stations have better pizza than Little Ceasers and others could ever hope to provide.
Without further ado, here are the top 5 best gas station pizzas.
#5 Speedway
Speedway would have been number one had their partnership with Godfathers Pizza lasted. But it didn't and the pizza they have their now is nothing compared to its former glory.
This doesn't mean the pizza isn't good, just not as tastey as it once was. The current pizza is pretty food and not too greasy.
The cheese leaves a little to be desired but their sauce is what sets it apart from others. It tastes like a combination of Ragu tamoto sauce and a garlicky pesto.
#4 7-Eleven
I'm not sure if its just my area here in South Florida but its very hard to find already made pizza in 7-Eleven that doesn't look like its been sitting there all night.
This may be a by-product of quiet quitting (which I do support btw!) but its very disappointing and I hope no one buys the old stale pizzas.
However, when the pizza is fresh it tastes better than Little Ceasers. The sauce is barely there in most cases but the cheese is great and they pile a ton of it on there.
It isn't too thin so you won't need to eat a whole box to get full. Just try not eat this while driving because that cheese gets everywhere.
#3 Race Trac
Race Trac's pizza tastes nearly identical to Tombstone pizza. The sauce has some tanginess to it which compliments that sharpness of the cheddar cheese they use very well.
The only issue I have with the pizza is that its very thin and greasy. If it were just one of these things it wouldn't be a problem.
But since its both the bottom of the pizza can get soggy and gross very quickly.
#2 Circle K
Circle K's pizza is closer to the Chicago, deep dish style pizza that I enjoy. It has a near perfect cheese to sauce ratio that tastes similar to Papa John's Pizza.
Its major downfall that keeps it from being number one is the weird, chalky powder that appears on the bottom of the slices. I imagine this powder is there to prevent the pizza from sticking the pan when baking but it's always there no matter which Circle K I go to.
#1 Cumberland
The number one, best pizza you can buy at a gas station is at Cumberland. The pizza here comes in huge slices compared to the others on the list and they often experiment with new flavors like Cheeseburger, Philly Cheese, and others.
The pizza can feel under cheesed at times but the rich tomatoe sauce more than makes up for it. There isn't as much grease, likely due to the relatively small amount of cheese, and the crust is actually edible.
A major problem with most gas station pizza is the lackluster crust that is almost inedible. Cumberland pizza doesn't have this issue as the crust is about on par with Little Caesars and Marcos Pizza.
