Foods That Start With The Letter E

The letter E is pretty common when it comes to names but not so much with foods. While not as rare as foods that start with Q, you would be hard-pressed to find a food that starts with the letter e.

Fret not my fellow food enthusiasts as I have curated a fairly substantial list of foods that all begin with the elusive vowel. Spoiler alert, there are many variations of egg dishes listed throughout.

  • Eclairs
  • Edamame
  • Egg Drop Soup
  • Egg Foo Young
  • Egg Noodles - These are great with chicken broth and your meat of choice.
  • Egg Rolls
  • Eggnog
  • Eggs Benedict
  • Eggs Florentine
  • Elbow Macaroni - This one is a classic that both children and adults will love.
  • Elderberries
  • Empanadas
  • Endive
  • English Muffins
  • Enokitake Mushrooms
  • Escargot
  • Espresso
  • Eton Mess
  • Eggplant Parmesan - During my very brief stint as a vegan I ate this dish a few times a week. It's a delicious, healthier alternative to traditional, carb-heavy lasagna.
  • Egg Salad
  • Egusi Soup
  • Elephant Ears (pastry)
  • Emmentaler Cheese
  • Ensaimada (Spanish pastry)
  • Epazote (Mexican herb)
  • Escalivada (Spanish dish)
  • Escamoles (Mexican dish)
  • Esfiha (Middle Eastern pastry)
  • Estofado (Spanish stew)
  • Estragon (Tarragon)
  • Etouffee (Cajun dish)
  • Elderflower Cordial
  • Eel Sushi - Honestly this sounds really gross but the numbers were not in my favor and I wanted to outperform the other blog posts on this topic.
  • Enchiladas
  • Entrecote (steak cut)
  • Elotes (Mexican street food)
  • Emu (meat) - This bird is one of the most useful animals in the world with roughly 98% of its body serving some purpose. It can be food, clothing, oil, and additives for makeup.
  • Encebollado (Ecuadorian dish)

As you can see, there aren't a lot of foods to choose from but if you stick to the egg realm a few more options open up.
