There's nothing like a tasty energy drink to wake you up on your way to meet with a client or clock in to your soul-sucking 9 to 5. And, if you failed to stock up on some at the house, the next best place to buy them is your gas station. Being a connoisseur of gas station cuisine, I've curated a list of the strongest energy drinks at gas stations.
Each energy drink on this list will be ranked by its caffeine content alone. There are many different components other than caffeine that enable the energy to give you a boost. However, I'm no nutritionist, so rather than misinform, I'll just stick to my experience with each of these beverages and their total amount of caffeine per package.
Raze Energy clocks in at number five with 300 mg of caffeine. It's a sugar-free option that also boasts BCAAs, making it a favorite among gym-goers. The flavors can be hit or miss, but it's a solid choice if you're looking for a pre-workout boost or just need to wake up fast.
My personal experience with Raze was a mixed bag. Some flavors are great, while others are a bit artificial for my taste. But if you're into fitness or need something potent, it's worth a shot.
C4 Ultimate, also packing 300 mg of caffeine, is another powerhouse. Known for its pre-workout benefits, this drink is designed to get you amped up for intense physical activity. The taste is surprisingly pleasant for an energy drink with such a high caffeine content.
I've tried C4 a few times, mostly before workouts, and it definitely delivers on its promise of an energy boost. It's not something I'd drink casually, but for a pre-workout jolt, it's top-notch.
Coming in at number five is Bang. Bang energy drink caffeine stands at a respectable 300mg per can. Personally, I'm more of a Monster guy and the first time I tried a Bang was when my brother offered me one after an 13 hour road trip.
After a few sips my heart began to beat at a rate I was not comfortable with. It felt like I had been running but no shortness of breath or sweat. It was a very odd sensation and is why I do not drink the beverage to this day.
There may have been other things at play that caused my rapid heart beat. I probably had a couple energy drinks during the trip that had not left my system and adding another 300mg was probably too much for me to handle.
Redline Xtreme is a small but mighty contender, with 316 mg of caffeine in just 8 fl oz. It's marketed as a high-energy drink for athletes and those needing an extreme boost. The compact size makes it easy to consume, but don't underestimate its strength.
My experience with Redline was intense. The energy boost was almost immediate and lasted for hours. It's not something I'd drink regularly, but it's perfect for those times when you need serious energy.
Topping the list is Spike Hardcore Energy, boasting a staggering 350 mg of caffeine per can. It's marketed as a hardcore energy drink, and it lives up to the name. This drink is not for the faint-hearted or those sensitive to caffeine.
My encounter with Spike was a one-time thing. The energy rush was intense, almost overwhelming. If you're looking for a serious kick, Spike is your best bet, but consume with caution.
These are the strongest energy drinks I've ever picked up during my commute. But, it isn't an exhaustive list nor am I very adventerous when it comes to consuming anything. So, for those who are interested in drinks that are not on my list, here is a helpful energy drink caffeine chart.
