The Best Fast Food Sauces in 2024

Fast Food Sauce Awards

Great sauce can make or break a restaurant. People like me don't care how great the bread, meats, or cheeses are if the sauce is awful. As such, I have curated and ranked the absolute best fast food sauces of all time.

Each sauce is ranked on scale from 1 to 10 in four important categories: Taste, Versatility, Availability, and Price. In terms of versatility, I am specifically considering how many different types of food the sauce will taste great on, other than the food the sauce was intended for. For example, Big Mac sauce tastes devine on burgers and even fries, but slathering across a plate of spaghetti would be in crime in most civilized nations.

Availability is a metric determined by the number of restaurants the fast food franchise has nationwide and if the sauce is available in bulk from a grocery store. Taste and price are sef explanatory but still very important metrics for Fueling Food's ranking.

Rank Sauce Taste Versatility Availability Price
20 Avacado Ranch - Taco Bell 7 6 7 $
19 Chipotle BBQ Sauce - Miami Grill 8 7 5 $$
18 Chicken Teryaki Sauce - Subway 8 7 8 $$
17 Cheesey Gordita Crunch Sauce 7 6 10 $
16 Sweet & Sour Sauce - McDonald's 7.5 7 10 $
15 Spicy Buffalo Sauce - Chick-fil-A 8.5 8 7 $$
14 BBQ Sauce - McDonald's 8 6 10 $
13 Honey Mustard - KFC 7 7 8 $
12 Creamy Sriracha - Jack in the Box 8 7 7 $$
11 Hot Honey Sauce - Popeyes 7.5 7 6 $
10 S'Awesome Sauce - Wendy's 8 8 8 $$
9 Orange Sauce - Panda Express 7 6 7 $
8 BBQ Sauce - Wendy's 7 5 10 $
7 Avacado Sauce - Chick-fil-A 7.5 6 9 $
6 Chipotle Sauce - Subway 8 7 8 $
5 Hickory BBQ Sauce - Wingstop 8 8 6 $
4 Zesty Onion Ring Sauce - Burger King 8 7 7 $
3 Chick-fil-A Sauce - Chick-fil-A 9 9 8 $
2 Big Mac Sauce - McDonald's 8.5 6 10 $
1 Cane's Sauce - Raising Cane's 9 10 3 $$

When it comes to versatility and taste, Raising Cane's reigns supreme. Head over to my Ultimate Guide to Raising Cane's Sauce for more delicious foods that pair well with the orangey goodness.

Raising Cane's is also the only restaurant that I'm aware of that sells you a 22 oz or 32 oz cup of their signature sauce. It's a brilliant move on their behalf as it keeps me craving Cane's a lot longer than I would have otherwise.

Big Mac is still wonderful and was my absolute favorite sauce for well over two decades but it's essentially locked into the burger/chicken handheld ecosystem. Unlike Cane's sauce, you couldn't dip a slice of pizza into it or drizzle it over your salad. So, when it comes to fast food sauces, nobody can touch Canes!
